Software QA Intern

Position Overview:

We are seeking talented interns to join us for an academic industry collaborative internship opportunity between Researchers with the Calgary Stroke Program at the University of Calgary and Circle Neurovascular Imaging Inc. The positions are supported by the SRP program through Alberta Innovates and the University of Calgary.  You will be part of a creative development team working on delivering quality cutting-edge medical software products, solving challenging technical issues, while learning from experienced researchers and colleagues in an agile and dynamic environment.  The complexity level of your work assignments will vary depending on project timelines, your initiative, and ability to deliver.


General Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to a range of quality assurance, validation, and verification activities
  • Plan and conduct investigations to evaluate the software from a technical perspective to determine capabilities, limitations and benchmarks in multiple network and hardware environments
  • Analyze the data from test results to assess the robustness, stability, and performance of the software
  • Create, modify, execute test cases to verify functional specifications
  • Establish and maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all work
  • Interact with developers, managers and researchers on technical issues, impact, and risk areas
  • Troubleshoot issues found during testing and assist in problem analysis
  • Develop new automation test scripts or software tools to assist in all stages of the product lifecycle


Required Skills/Experience:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or Engineering
  • Working knowledge of C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, Go, or similar
  • Familiar with client-server or n-tier application architectures
  • Able to install and configure new hardware/software with minimal assistance
  • Passionate about software quality, usability improvement, and test automation
  • Demonstrating strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work in a team environment across multiple geographic locations
  • Keen interest in biological sciences/medical/healthcare applications is a plus
